What is DEANS?
DEANS represents its members, private sector tourism industry operators in Antigonish, Guysborough, Eastern HRM and Pictou County.
DEANS is a not-for-profit organization with 16 Directors representing the Northumberland and Eastern Shore regions of Nova Scotia.
DEANS was incorporated in 2011, and will combine the marketing energies of The Pictou County Tourist Association and the Antigonish Eastern Shore Tourist Association, to open new innovative marketing opportunities for the region.
Mission and Vision statement
Our Mission - Destination Eastern and Northumberland Shores will facilitate sustainable and economic tourism growth throughout the Eastern and Northumberland Shores for its members in partnership with the community and stakeholders.
Our Vision - Destination Eastern and Northumberland Shores will be the lead destination marketing organization for the Eastern Shore and Northumberland Shores.
What does DEANS do?
DEANS represents the voice of the local tourism industry.
DEANS partners with the Department of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism to provide funding for Festival and Events, media advertising and destination marketing campaigns.
DEANS partners with the Department to fund Visitor Information Centers and staff training.
DEANS has two offices to answer inquiries year round: one on the Northumberland Shore on Pictou County and one on the Eastern Shore in Musquodoboit Harbour.
DEANS, in partnership with the Department, organizes FAM (familiarization) tours, introducing international media and travel writers to the region.
DEANS produces annual Visitors Guides.
DEANS meets monthly with the Department to review and access programs and address issues that affect the industry.
